The national standard for formaldehyde content in the floor is intended to modify or delete the E2 standard.

The 21st Century Business Herald reporter learned that the National Standardization Administration Committee is going to revise the GB18580-2001 national standard (the amount of formaldehyde released in interior decoration materials, wood-based panels and their products).

According to China's environmental protection standards, the formaldehyde limit level of floor panels is divided into three levels, namely E25.0mg/L, E11.5mg/L, E00.5mg/L.

"In the revised draft, the E2 standard was deleted. Once the draft was passed, in the future, the formaldehyde limited release value should be at most 1.5/L or less," according to an expert involved in the revision.

However, Wang Zheng, deputy director of the Institute of Wood Industry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, said that the revision is not very optimistic. As early as two years ago, the above standards were prepared for revision, but as of now, no standards have been introduced. The cost will definitely increase accordingly and will affect the interests of some of the curing groups.

National standard lag

Wang Zheng said that as long as the formaldehyde content is in a safe range, in actual use, the amount of residual formaldehyde will not cause serious damage to the human body.

According to China's environmental protection standards, the formaldehyde limit level of floor panels is divided into three levels, namely E25.0mg/L, E11.5mg/L, E00.5mg/L.

In Wang Zheng's view, with the increase in consumer demand for the living environment, the above-mentioned national standard has been seriously lagging behind and needs to be revised.

Wang Zheng said that the national standard GB18580-2001 only stipulates the concentration of artificial board release, but does not stipulate the total amount of indoor control, that is to say, only the unit release control, but does not use the control of the total amount of wood-based panels, when the amount of artificial board When it reaches a certain level, the amount of formaldehyde released will exceed the standard.

At the same time, Wang Zheng believes that the shortcomings of the above standards are also reflected in the limited classification of formaldehyde. In Japan, for example, in the Japanese standards, F1, F2 and F3 correspond to China's E2 and E1 respectively. Level and E0 (0.5mg/L). F1 grade products are not allowed to be used indoors, while F2 grades and F3 grades are allowed to be used indoors, but the total amount of use is strictly controlled. If F4 grade (0.3mg/L) is reached, it is not subject to the total amount of use, because this The product is very safe.

In addition, Wang Zheng said that some manufacturers of wood-based panel products will adopt a method of veneering beeswax to achieve the standard, and the product package will be closed. Although formaldehyde will be locked inside, when the temperature rises, formaldehyde will be uneasy. freed.

In Wang Zheng’s view, the above national standard is not revised and may become a protective umbrella with excessive formaldehyde content.

Delete the E2 standard

In fact, according to a multi-party interview with this reporter, the National Standardization Committee proposed to amend the national standard GB18580-2001, of which the revised new standard may cancel the E2 level.

That is to say, in the future, the formaldehyde limited release value is at most less than or equal to 1.5/L, otherwise it is exceeded.

The above-mentioned experts who participated in the revision said that the improvement of standards is of great significance for improving the environmental quality of the industry, but it does not mean that zero formaldehyde is added, even the most environmentally friendly E0 standard allows the presence of formaldehyde.

In the opinion of the above, in general, the wood itself contains formaldehyde, and the formaldehyde content is generally 0.12 mg/L-0.04 mg/L, as long as the free aldehyde in the sheet is less than or equal to the aldehyde content of the wood or the production reaction process. No aldehyde is produced in the middle, which ensures the addition of “zero formaldehyde” to the floor.

Wang Zheng believes that the core of solving the formaldehyde release problem of wood-based panel products lies in the adhesive.

In Wang Zheng's view, in fact, there are some mature technologies for environmentally friendly adhesives on the market. For example, replacing the aldehyde glue with natural soy protein glue can solve the problem of free formaldehyde.
