Coca-Cola Large Recycling Beverage Factory to Be Put into Operation

The beverage industry giant, Coca-Cola Company of the United States, announced that it will start the company's plastic beverage bottle recycling plant in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, on January 14.

A spokesperson for the company pointed out that the plant is the largest of its kind and can produce 100 million pounds of food-grade recycled PET annually, which can be processed into 2 billion 20-ounce plastic Coke bottles.

In the next ten years, the regeneration facility will eliminate the production of 1 million tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to reducing the emissions of 215,000 vehicles operating within ten years.

In September 2007, Coca-Cola announced that it invested 60 million US dollars in this project, and the company’s long-term plan is to regenerate all of its coke bottles.

The plant will send satellite visits to the media on January 15.
