Multifunctional plastic food new packaging

Huhta-maki, a British company, has successfully developed a new type of plastic food packaging that has both passive and active barrier functions, effectively inhibits oxygen infiltration, and even after cooking food bags, the effect will not be reduced.

This new package, known as the sum of the barriers, is made up of 6 layers of coextruded composite material. The first and sixth layers are high-oil-repellent polypropylene; the second and fourth layers are adhesives; the oxygen-blocking polymeric material EVOH is between; and the fifth layer is an oxygen scavenger mixture known as an active barrier. Not only can it prevent foreign oxygen molecules from entering, but it can also absorb oxygen inside the package. In this type of packaging, the oxygen scavenger retains sufficient activity even in the presence of moisture.
