More environmentally friendly carton packaging

In order to reduce packaging costs, more and more packages have begun to use recycled cardboard materials. Recyclable paperboard can not only provide lower cost (compared with pure paperboard), but also will not affect the integrity of the carton structure, printing speed and printability.

Pepperidge Farm changed the packaging material of Pepperidge Farm Texas Toast (a frozen product) from pure cardboard to Caraustar's InverFreez reusable paperboard, reducing packaging costs.

Blue Diamond Growers also recently switched to recycled paperboard to produce packaging cartons for its Nut Thins Natural Nut & Rice Crackers products. This is because Nut Thins sells only in natural food stores. Compared with ordinary consumers, its consumer groups are more interested in the environmental performance of products. In fact, consumers have advised Nut Thins to use reusable packaging. In response, Blue Diamond replaced paperboard cartons with carton packs made from recyclable paperboard.

Jennifer Fana, sales manager for consumer foods at Blue Diamond Growers, said: "This is good for the environment, for us and for our consumers." She added: "To make sure we've been working for us Consumers provide high-quality packaging, we have selected the highest grade materials, and 100% recycled paperboard.” Therefore, the cost of this new carton is the same as that of a pure carton.
