Russian furniture import tariffs will be reduced to 10%

Imports of solid wood furniture increased by 44.5% in 2010, and by 13.6% in 2011. In 2012, Russian solid wood furniture imports increased again and exceeded the 2010 index, reaching 15,700 tons.

Manufacturers of solid wood furniture to the Russian market are in more than 35 countries and regions. In the first seven months of 2012, Italy, Ukraine and Germany accounted for more than 71% of Russian wooden kitchen furniture imports. Among them, Italian products account for the largest proportion.

As a member of the World Trade Organization, Russian furniture import tariffs will gradually decline in six years. The import tariff rate for most commodities will fall from 15% to 10%. Therefore, the proportion of imported products in the Russian market will increase, and competition between Russian and foreign producers will intensify.
