"Since the 1990s, Millike's Millard 3988 polypropylene transparency has become the industry standard," said Bernard Vermeersch, senior research and development engineer at Milliken. “The Millad NX8000 has taken transparency to a new level and its use in the production of injection moulding and injection blow moulded containers is evident.†Compared to current industry standards, such clearers can reduce haze by 50%. However, until recently, this advantage was difficult to achieve in extrusion blow-molded containers compared to other packaged products, because the clarity of such containers depends to some extent on the roughness of their wall surfaces. In general, the low pressures and mold surface finishes available for extrusion blow molded containers do not provide the optimal wall surface.
"Today, new resin designs help solve this problem," said Vermeersch. “The new grade with Millad NX8000 can produce extrusion blow molded bottles with optical properties comparable to PVC. The technologist can achieve gloss 120 (measurement angle 60°), 95% clarity, and low haze 6%." Previously, in extrusion blow molded containers made from polypropylene, these values ​​never reached.
