Professor Jin Yuansheng, an internationally renowned expert in tribology and a professor at the State Key Laboratory of Tribology at Tsinghua University, said that this is a major breakthrough in the study of friction reduction mechanism and product development in the field of tribology in China and is a revolution in the maintenance technology of mechanical equipment.
Dong Weida, a patented inventor of metal wear self-healing materials and a researcher at the China Cooperative Economic Development Research Center, said that the metal wear self-healing materials are based on the absorption of advanced metal friction technologies at home and abroad, combined with the type and grade of ore in China, and innovatively developed. Successful, can be widely used in electromechanical manufacturing, metallurgy, petroleum, chemical, railway, aerospace, precision parts processing and other fields.
After a major overhaul of the Beijing Railway Sub-bureau, a train engine with worn trains appeared after 120,000 km of overhaul. After applying this new material, it was verified by the State Key Laboratory of Tribology of Tsinghua University that the internal combustion engine continued to travel 300,000 kilometers and the original wear disappeared. To the prototype size; new overhauled locomotives directly applied this new material to travel 500,000 kilometers, still intact as new.
Expert tests have shown that the material can increase the rated service life of the bearing by 21 times or more while maintaining the best dimensional accuracy; the service life of the cutting tool is increased by more than 5 times; the service life of the special steel product is increased by more than 1 time.
At present, Harbin Shenglong New Material Technology Co., Ltd. has established China's first production line for metal wear self-healing materials in Harbin.
According to experts, wear, corrosion and fatigue are the main forms of failure of mechanical materials. The annual economic losses caused by wear and tear of various types of mechanical equipment and energy consumption are as high as hundreds of billions of yuan in China. The advent of metal wear self-healing materials enables various types of machinery and equipment to be repaired and maintained without disassembly, significantly prolonging its service life.
