Since children and families are ready to plunge into the amusement park nationwide, even the most enthusiastic pleasure seekers have doubts: How do you know that you are safe?
In most cases you can't - the park won't tell us.
Those towering crowded American amusement parks and amusement rides are not subject to federal investigation - and the industry is largely transparent of its potential problems - even after the summer touted its own safety record in the summer.

The girls, 3 and 4, were in the park when their dad took his final journey. Today, amusement parks represent "horrible things" to them, Loshaw said.
"I don't want to put my kids on these rides," she said.
"There should be something, anything, so everyone knows this is a safe place."
